BMS College of Law, Bangalore

BMS College of Law, Bangalore was started in the year 1963. It is affiliated to Karnataka State Law Open University and approved by Bar Council of India.

The Institute, situated in the heart of the city, was started during the academic year 1963-64 under the aegis of the BMS EDUCATIONAL TRUST. The Trust is named after Late Dharamaprakasha Rajakaryaprasaktha B. M. Sreenivasaiah, whose philanthropy resulted in the establishment of the First Engineering Institute under the Private Management of the State of Karnataka.

Initially the Institute was affiliated to Mysore University, later Bangalore University and now to Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and is approved by Bar Council of India, New Delhi. During the inception of the Institute, the Administrative Principal, Late A G Ramachandra Rao, was the Minister for Education in the State of Mysore.

BMS Educational Trust now runs the following highly reputed Institutions providing education to around 12000 students in areas like Engineering, Law, Science, Commerce, Information Technology and Architecture.

B.A., L.L.B. :

BA LLB Integrated is five-year duration full-time course under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination.

A Student shall be eligible for the award of the B.A.,LL.B., (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws) Degree after he/she has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all the Semesters and provided his or her character and conduct are found to be satisfactory during the course. No Institute or Department of Studies in Law authorized to impart education in the B.A., LL.B., and degree course shall admit not more than 60 students in one division.

The University shall reserve the right to prescribe the number of divisions in each Law School or the Department of Studies in Legal.

Eligibility Criteria:

An applicant who has successfully completed Pre-University course or Senior Secondary School Course (‘+2’) or equivalent such as (10+1, ‘A’ level in Senior School Leaving Certificate Course) from a recognized University/Institution of India.

The minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall not be below 45% (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) of total marks in case of general category applicants and 40% (39.5% and above shall be treated as 40%) of total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

The maximum age for seeking admission is limited to twenty years in case of general category of applicants and to twenty two years in the case of applicants from SC, ST and st other backward communities as on 1 June.

Admission Procedure :

Admission to the course shall be made strictly on the basis of the merit taking into account total marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Provided that while making admission to the course reservation policy of the Government of Karnataka governing admission to higher educational institutions issued from time to time shall be applied.

After Downloading the online Application Form, candidate shall forward the Filled-in application form to the Institute address, along with a demand draft for Rs.550/- towards the prospectus and application fee drawn in favour of the Principal, BMS School of Laaw, payable at Bengaluru. On receipt of D.D. Prospectus will be sent to the candidates at the postal address given in the Application Form.

The Placement Committee of BMS College of Law is one of the most important Committees of the College, shouldering the responsibility of providing a stepping stone to success to budding lawyers graduating from the College.
