CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore

This Institute was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 which administers in Univer-sity.

Established in 1969, The Univer-sity Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred Autonomy in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006.

In 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, declared the institution a Deemed to be Univer-sity, in the name and style. One of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the NAAC, and subsequently in 2004 and 2016, It has the top grade ‘A’ in the 4-point scale.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for UG and PG courses

It offers multiple programmes at Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), PhD and M Phil levels in streams like Engineering, Management, Commerce, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, etc. Ad-mission process usually begins in January.

Minimum cut-off for ad-mission to PG courses varies between 45-60% marks depending on the course. However, there’s no minimum cut-off fixed for ad-mission to UG courses. The candidate planning to pursue a UG course at the uni-versity must have passed Class XII from a recognized board/uni-versity.

Ad-mission is done on the basis of merit scored in previous qualifying exam, skill assessment and personal interview except BBA, BHM, B Com (H), B Com (Professional), B Com (International Finance), (MSc) in Mathematics and BA in Media Studies, Communication and Media, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, English, Psychology, Journalism.

The Uni-versity conducts its own entrance test for the above mentioned programmes. Post the first phase of screening process, selected candidates are invited for Skill Assessment, Micro Presentation and Personal Interview rounds. For MBA (Tourism and Travel Management) ad-mission, the uni-versity conducts Group Discussion along with Micro Presentation, Written Assessment, Verbal Assessment and Personal interview. For MBA the candidate must have appeared in any of the following competitive exam and must have scored at least the minimum marks fixed.

Online mode

The applicants will have to create a login ID by registering on the website by entering email address, date of birth and mobile number. Applicants can the fill and submit the application form along with the application fee of Rs 1000 through the payment gateway with a valid Credit / Debit Card / net banking facility.

Offline mode

Candidates will have to purchase the prospectus at the ad-mission cell and fill the application offline. Then they will have to log on to the website by creating a login ID. After creating the ID they will have to click “Proceed with Application” option to enter offline application number and receipt number before entering all the details filled in the hard copy of the application.

Application forms of B Com (Regular), B Com (Finance & Accountancy) and B Com (Morning) must be submitted in person only to the Office of Ad-missions within 3 working days from the declaration of class XII results (Karnataka PUC / CBSE / ISC). Other Boards whose results may be declared after the above mentioned boards will be considered subject to availability of seats.

Admit Card

The admit card for the entrance exam will be issued five days prior to the scheduled date. The candidates can download their admit cars from the official website by logging in with the help of their Application Number and Date of Birth.

International Students Ad-mission

Application process for ad-mission through International Student/NRI category is different from that of domestic students. NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals may pay the application and ad-mission fees through Demand Draft, made in favour of payable at Bengaluru.

Candidates from non-English speaking country must have passed the qualifying examination in English medium or must have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores. Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for Intensive Certificate course in English Language conducted from March to May each year or one Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.
