Dr. D. Y. Patil Law College was established in the year 2001 and it is a distinguished Law college affiliated to the University of Pune. Duration – Five years Course

Eligibility Criteria
Students passing H.S.C. (10+2) Examination or equivalent with minimum 45 % of marks can be admitted to the first year of this course.

Intake Capacity – 120 Students

Rules of Standard of Passing for Five Year Law Course

In order to pass the examination for the First year & Second year i.e. Pre Law Courses, the candidate should obtain at least 40% marks in every individual paper as also 40% marks in aggregate.

The candidate obtaining 40% marks in any individual paper of the said examination will be exempted from appearing in that subject/ paper under provisions of Ordinance No. 0.11.3. The candidate obtaining marks between 40% & 49% in the aggregate will be declared to have passed the said examination in pass class.

The candidate securing between 50% to 54% will be placed in Second Class. The Candidate securing between 55% to 59% will be placed in Higher Second Class.

The candidate obtaining aggregate between 60% to 69% marks will be declared to have passed in First Class. The candidate obtaining aggregate marks 70% and above will be declared to have passed in First Class with Distinction.

The standard of passing for Third, Fourth & Fifth Year of the Five Year Law Course is 35% in Individual subject and 50% in aggregate. The candidate obtaining marks between 50% and 54% marks will be declared to have passed in second class.

The candidate securing between 55% and 59% shall be placed in higher second class. The candidate obtaining between 60% and 69% marks will be declared to have passed in first class. The candidate obtaining aggregate marks 70 and above will be declared to have passed in first class with distinction.

The candidate obtaining 50% or more marks in an individual subject will be exempted from appearing in that subject. The provision of 0.11.3 will be applicable in this case.

The University authorities have decided to award the Degree of B.A.LL.B to the students after completion of three years of the Five Year Law Course. Similarly, the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Degree will be awarded to the students after completion of the Five Year Law Course.

Allowed To Keep Terms (ATKT)

Candidate who obtains at the first and second year of the five-year Law course examinations 40 percent of the full marks in each of any four papers out of six papers shall be allowed to keep term for the next year. The student cannot take admission in the Third year unless he has independently passed in all subjects in the First Year.

The Third Year student cannot take admission in the Fifth year unless he has independently passed in all subjects in the Third Year. The student of Third and Fourth Year obtaining 50% or more in the five papers out of eight papers shall be allowed to keep term for the next year.

Placements

The students, realising the need and importance of hands-on training, of their own accord, take up internship assignments with various advocates and counsels and legal firms.

The college welcomes a large number of top legal firms, corporates, advocates and counsels who recruit the students. Many students have been placed with the top legal firms of India.
