Dr. D. Y. Patil Law College was established in the year 2001 and it is a distinguished Law college affiliated to the University of Pune. Sheltered in huge well architectured premises along with multiple institutes, the college has a unique academic atmosphere chiefly characterized by interdisciplinary scholarly interaction and healthy competitive spirit and enthusiasm to excel in various curricular activities.

The objective of this Law College right from its inception has been to promote and protect the feeling of togetherness, caring, sharing and understanding between students from all states.

B.A. LL. B. – Bachelor of Social- Legal Sciences – B.A. LL. B.
Duration – five years Course

Eligibility Criteria – Students passing H.S.C. (10+2) Examination or equivalent with minimum 45 % of marks can be admitted to the first year of this course.

Intake Capacity – 120 Students

Rules of Standard of Passing for Five Year Law Course

In order to pass the examination for the First year & Second year i.e. Pre Law Courses, the candidate should obtain at least 40% marks in every individual paper as also 40% marks in aggregate.

The candidate obtaining 40% marks in any individual paper of the said examination will be exempted from appearing in that subject/ paper under provisions of Ordinance No. 0.11.3. The candidate obtaining marks between 40% & 49% in the aggregate will be declared to have passed the said examination in pass class.

The candidate securing between 50% and 54% will be placed in Second Class. The Candidate securing between 55% and 59% will be placed in Higher Second Class.

The candidate obtaining aggregate between 60% to 69% marks will be declared to have passed in First Class. The candidate obtaining aggregate marks 70% and above will be declared to have passed in First Class with Distinction.

The standard of passing for Third, Fourth & Fifth Year of the Five Year Law Course is 35% in Individual subject and 50% in aggregate. The candidate obtaining marks between 50% and 54% marks will be declared to have passed in second class.

The candidate securing between 55% and 59% shall be placed in higher second class. The candidate obtaining between 60% and 69% marks will be declared to have passed in first class. The candidate obtaining aggregate marks 70 and above will be declared to have passed in first class with distinction.

The candidate obtaining 50% or more marks in an individual subject will be exempted from appearing in that subject. The provision of 0.11.3 will be applicable in this case.

The University authorities have decided to award the Degree of B.A.LL.B to the students after completion of three years of the Five Year Law Course. Similarly, the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Degree will be awarded to the students after completion of the Five Year Law Course.

L.LB. – Bachelor of Laws/ the Legum Baccalaureus
Duration – Three year law course

Eligibility Criteria – The minimum qualification for admission to the three year LL.B. course shall be a Graduation with minimum 45% of marks in any faculty of Pune University or any other statutory University.

Intake Capacity – 120 Students

Rules for Standard of Passing for LL.B. Three Year Law Course

The standard of passing for the three-year course is that the candidate must obtain 35 marks in each paper and 50 percent of the total marks in aggregate. Those successful candidates who obtain 50% or more of the total marks in aggregate will be placed in the second class and those who obtain 60 or more of the total marks.

Exemption Rule for all the Three Year Examinations
A candidate who obtains atleast 50 percent of the full marks in a paper shall, at this option, be exempted from that paper at a subsequent examination. He shall, however have to pass in the remaining paper or papers in accordance with the standard of passing laid down above.

Terms & Conditions for the LL.B. Course
Admissions must be taken in person, by presenting the prescribed application form duly filled in and on payment of fees. All admissions will be provisional and subject to confirmation by the Principal and approval by the University.

Conditions to be fulfilled by a student in order to qualify for grant of terms:

He shall attend at least 80 percent of lectures delivered in a subject.
He shall attend the prescribed number of tutorials and secure at least 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all the tutorials.
He shall pass the terminal or other tests satisfactorily for all the subjects.
He shall complete all practical training and must participate in the free legal aid and free legal literacy camp.

No two Graduate courses or Graduate Course coupled with Post Graduate Course shall be done simultaneously under the rules of the University. However students can undergo one Degree, one Diploma and one Certificate Course simultaneously.
